Jing Liu
IN MAY 2017 SHE WON THE GOLD MEDAL OF "THE ELEVENTH CHINA FASHION DESIGN CONTEST AWARD EVALUATION" AND IN JUNE SHE RECEIVED THE "TOP 10 YOUNG TALENT AWARD'".
Jing Liu earned her PhD degree in the discipline of Fashion and Textile Design from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a 3D printing technology speciality.
Her research interests lie primarily in the fields of digital technologies for fashion and textile design, integrated creative practice, material science, and mechanical properties. She has published several papers at international journals and academic conferences and worked as a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses in fashion design at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
In 2022, Jing was invited to be one of the Keynote Session Speakers at the Philippine Textile Congress 2022: Research Colloquium Session 5 Textiles in Apparel Science and Design to deliver a presentation about 3D printed textiles research.
Prior to her arrival in Hong Kong, she served as a teaching assistant during her master studies in the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (Fashion and Textile Design Major) and later joined this university as a part-time lecturer.
Over the course of 4 years, she has taught more than 7 different subjects, such as Computer Skills for Fashion Illustration, Creative Thinking for Fashion Design, Pattern and Sewing Techniques of Garment Making, Textile Design, and Digital Software for Fashion Design, cultivating a deep understanding of the intersection of fashion technology, design principles, and design education.
More than 20 undergraduates have been awarded in the international fashion and textile design competitions. Jing obtained 4 Outstanding Teaching Awards for her teaching work and published 1 textbook during this career.
In 2021, she received RMB 350,000 from the CPC Shaoxing Keqiao District Committee to transform creative design practice into commercial applications.
She holds 4 granted patents in China and completed 5 external projects with more than HKD1.2 million research funding as a major participant.
Her art and design works have been exhibited worldwide and received more than 20 awards. Parts of the works have been permanently collected by several institutions such as China National Silk Museum and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute Museum.
